Hipster
My favorite definition of the word ‘hipster’ is “someone who listens to bands that you have never heard of.” What is the connection to Pilates, you might ask?
None whatsoever. I just love the term, and it provided a nice catch-phrase for this blog post which contains my 3 favorite hip stretches. A deep hip stretch is something that can be simultaneously punishing and sublime. The key is sticking with it, and breathing deeply. Just when you feel you can’t take it anymore, breathe even more deeply and imagine you’re on a beach in the Virgin Islands, being fanned with a palm frond. (or you can also choose to grimace and fight it, but I swear that the Virgin Islands approach is more effective).
Persevere: happy hips can mean the difference between a grumpy low back and a happy one.
