Marika's first exposure to Pilates was during her training as a competitive gymnast rehabilitating several knee surgeries. She went on to pursue a degree in physical therapy from Springfield College and has worked in orthopaedics and dance medicine since 2003. Marika began her physical therapy career at Westside Dance Physical Therapy in NYC. During her time at Westside Dance, she had the opportunity to be mentored by the exceptional staff in advanced manual therapy, dance medicine and Pilates-based exercise programs. She has been a Physical Therapist since 2003. She also was part of the team of physical therapists who cared for the dancers of New York City Ballet and The School of American Ballet. From 2008-2012, Marika served as director of the Performing Arts Medicine program at The Ohio State University. While at OSU, Marika began to deepen her training in Pilates and saw the benefits it had on restoring her patients posture, alignment, body awareness, and flexibility. She received her comprehensive Balanced Body certification in 2013. Marika is excited to be in CT and to have found the wonderful team at SAP. She is energized by the potential Pilates has to restore the whole body and looks forward to making this journey with her clients.
What Our Clients Are Saying
“You have a beautiful studio–gorgeous–with more Pilates equipment than I even knew existed. Everyone I met there was warm, friendly, helpful, and encouraging.”
“The comparison between my experience at Aldrich Pilates and what was called Pilates at my health club and at physical therapy is rather like the comparison between an Italian dinner at a wonderful restaurant in Florence versus pizza from a pizza delivery chain. Both are Italian but they are very different.”
